She’s passionate about landing you the right house. And has the business acumen to make it happen. She’s also a total joy of a human and a fabulous person to spend time around. We were *extraordinarily* challenging clients as we were new and nervous and unsure of what we wanted, what we could afford, and what the potential difficulties we might encounter later on might be. Mackenzie stuck with us for a very very long time and helped us understand what was reasonable and what was possible and then more than once, she made the impossible happen anyway. She got us accepted offers when we were significantly outbid or when other offers were all cash because she starts by understanding her client and then uses her best in class people skills to understand the perspective of the seller and the seller’s agents and build and maintain all the necessary relationships to do it. If there is a deal to be put together, she makes it happen. She knows the business extremely well. She connected us to the professionals we needed to get into the door (bankers and mortgage brokers) and worked with them on our behalf to come up with extremely creative solutions and incredible rates. She proactively talked to a banker about our unusual cash issues (we were both trying to buy a home and adopt in the same period) and she helped him come up with the solution of also securing us an extremely favorable personal line of credit. We didn’t need it in the end since she found us a truly affordable house without fixes that require a lot of cash but I can’t imagine another professional anywhere fighting so hard to give us options. She’s unbelievably responsive and sometimes gets an offer into document sign and the sellers’ hands before you’ve gotten home from an open house. She’s savvy about the entire market - where the market is and where it’s going, has expert understanding of comps and a great Spidey sense about exactly how much something might go for. She also just knows a lot about houses and condos and the nitty gritty financial side of what makes an HOA a good bet or when it’s not a great idea to compromise on something and steers you gently towards what will truly work for you. And she has an amazing sense of style and the expertise to help you see what’s possible while also telling you what’s likely out of budget. She’s thoughtful about where you should be looking and got to the point where she really knew us better than we knew ourselves or we wouldn’t have landed in a spot that is perfect for what we need and quite different from what we thought we wanted. She has a dozen top professional inspectors and others on speed dial. And they like and trust her so you often get to cut to the front of the line. She is also just the kind of person you feel really happy to know and spend time with and be on the other end of the phone when navigating a really tough choice. She makes the worst part of this process decipherable and helped us to feel ok about ourselves even when we’d made bad calls. We will be moving into a house in a community we had never seen till she introduced us to it. Finally, she’s really good at interrogating choices or suggesting alternatives in a way that is smart but gentle. If you’re serious about buying a home in LA, call her! When it comes time to sell our home, we wouldn’t even consider someone else.
I met Mackenzie shortly after I started my own search for a condo unit to purchase in LA, she made my entire real estate research 100 times faster with her knowledge of the different neighborhoods in East LA, and she was always one step ahead of the game to help me narrow down the type of unit I would want to make an offer on; the process happened quickly with Mackenzie and three weeks after I started looking, I am in escrow for my first condo thanks to Mackenzie: she is quick to respond, intuitively sharp, communicates well, and she took her time to educate me along the way as a first-time home buyer in the LA area. Mackenzie is a quick study. She got what was important to me after I day of touring and was very good at not wasting my time on units that were not right for me. I had specific areas in mind and she offered alternatives but didn’t push when I said no. In about 3 weeks time I saw a large number of apartments that were in the ball park and finally settled on a lovely apartment that checked almost every one of my boxes and the trade off of a fabulous huge professional kitchen for a tiny balcony still seems to have been correct for me. She did a good job negotiating the lease and knows area standards and practices and her walkthrough before I moved in was a very through and she filmed it to avoid any later issues about my responsibility for damage.
Mackenzie is the best. At first I thought she'd be too young, but she was hyper-efficiently on top of the process at every step of the way, and totally savvy about the nuances of the area in which we searched. She was quick to suss out my needs based on a reading of who I am. Her enthusiasm was a good boost to the mood of the quest, and her realistic perspective provided impeccable guidelines as to what to avoid and what to value. She smartly negotiated, then often went far beyond the essentials to advise on post-purchase actions. Communication, which I prize about all else, was instantaneous, thorough and cheerful.
